Holiday Party Planning
Now, that we have cleared our plates of turkey dinners fully equipped with an arsenal of side dishes ranging from starchy potatoes, sage-filled stuffing, and creamy casseroles, the time has come to start planning for the December festivities. Christmas, the day of presents, families, a jolly man with a beard in a red suit fully clad with white fur and a belt buckle will soon be visiting the homes of holiday party planners. What better way to start of the Christmas season than by donning your bells and whistles by decking out your table spread before the cookies and milk are set out.
Table decor for Christmas is easily one of the prime staples for the festive holiday season. We previously posted on styling the table with Turkey Day design, but now it is time to hide the cornucopia, axe the leaves and corn, and place your little pilgrim figurines back in the curio. Christmas rings in a new season of style and design with dashes of holly, pine trees galore, and enough glittery accents that will sparkle well into the winter month.
Color schemes for christmas have traditionally relied on a plethora of red and green. Sure, such a palette will absolutely scream Christmas, but why not try a new approach to the holiday and set a wonderland of white, silver, and gold. Setting the table in a beautiful crisp clean white style with gold and silver accenture is a clean and modern approach to decor that will avoid kitsch and cliché. White table cloths, baroque design napkins with shades of gold, and a classic silver napkin ring is true chic status. Line the table with beautiful ivory china with a touch of gold around the edges and Waterford crystal stemware is pure high-class.
As far as centerpieces go, classic designs of christmas trees, wreaths, and poinsettia are a sure-fire way to stay true to the holiday spirit, but going along with our winter wonderland theme, try centering the focal point around hurricane vases full of glimmering glitter-encrusted candles. Silver and gold Christmas ornaments make for great accent pieces to that table design as well. Silver metallic branches or antlers really spice up your holiday design and add a touch of nostalgia to your modern approach.
