Geometric Zig-Zag Pattern Vintage Persian Gabbeh Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Vintage

Zig-zag lines run the length of the field in close parallel columns — red, orange, olive, dark brown, grey — each offset from the one beside it. The ivory ground behind them shifts tone band to band. A single stepped diamond in orange and red sits low on the right, out of step with everything around it.

The chevron is among the oldest motifs in the tribal rug vocabulary, and here it is drawn freehand: lines wander, widths vary, colours change mid-run. A brick-red border carries small stylised figures in ivory and olive, and narrow sawtooth bands edge the field on both sides. It is geometric rug drawing at its most direct, built from straight lines and repetition rather than curve.

At 3 ft 2 in by 4 ft 8 in this is a small rug — an entry, a bedside, the floor in front of a bookcase. The rug size guide covers placement at this scale. Price is available on request, and this palette can be woven at room scale as a custom rug.
