No dividing lines anywhere — the squares butt straight up against each other and the colour does all the separating. Orange, brick, ivory, olive, slate and near-black repeat across a field of roughly even cells, and the eye picks out diagonals running corner to corner because the colours fall that way rather than in rows.
Whether the diagonals were planned is another question. The sequence breaks and resumes often enough to suggest they were not, and a run of squares along the top row has been filled with a fine hatched pattern instead of a flat colour, the only cells in the rug drawn that way and easy to miss.
At 3 ft by 4 ft 10 in it is one of the small rugs, and there is no quiet passage anywhere in it: the red and orange carry straight through. Price is available on request, and the checker can be run at any scale as a custom rug.
