The second annual NYC METRO Show kicked off in New York City on Thursday, bringing an eclectic mix of ethnographic, tribal and fine art to the Metropolitan Pavilion.
The NYC Metro show is famous for five days of antique splendor, but centers itself far from the antiquated idea the ‘A’ word suggests. Instead, it focuses on Historical Design and the inspiration behind old masters, folk collections and contemporary pieces.
This past weekend the Art and Antiques Dealers League of America held their Spring show at the Park Avenue Armory. Partnered with 1stdibs.com and the ASPCA, the best of the best of decorative and fine art (that can’t yet be found in museums or aren’t already in a private collection) were on display for both viewing and buying pleasure. Portions of the proceeds made at the show went to the ASPCA.
The inaugural 1stdibs and NYC20 Decorative Arts and Design Fair, a 20th Century art and design fair in the tent at Lincoln Center, kicked last Thursday night. 36 dealers from all over the USA and Europe are showcased decorative and fine arts from all 20th century design movements at the fair over the weekend.

Together, they decorated the vault and marked the rock face with charcoal that she had just pulled out of the fire. Adding some color from a red rock that man later learned was iron, he scraped a blue rock that had copper in it and made a third color. He stepped back pleased as deer appeared on the walls of his home. Gryt smiled and Grunt went to bed.
We are pleased to announce that Jason Nazmiyal was asked to participate in a panel discussion at the New York Historical Society. This stimulating panel discussion about antique rugs and carpets, From Tibet to Timbuktu and the Art of Collecting Fine Rugs and Textiles, was moderated by the pillar of the New York rug scene, Mary Jo Otsea, who has long headed the rug and carpet department at Sotheby’s New York.
This past week, one of the most outstanding textiles in the Nazmiyal Collection, a splendid antique Kashmir shawl of the eighteenth century, went on display at New York’s Asia Society as part of a special exhibition, “The Arts of Kashmir.” This exhibition represents a major international effort involving loans from collections all over the world. It is the first major exhibition entirely devoted to the arts of Kashmir from late antiquity up to the present time, covering media of every kind.
