Beautiful red Background Floral Antique Room Size Persian Kerman Carpet, Country Of Origin / Rug Type: Persian Rug, Circa Date: 1900 – This stunning room size antique Persian Kerman rug has a beautiful red background that adds a touch of elegance, warmth and a splash of happy color to any room’s interior design. The floral design of this elegant room size rug is reminiscent of the formal flower gardens that once graced the courtyards of palaces in empires past. The delicate flowers fall in graceful sprays, sweeping the ground and scattering a tapestry of petals to walk upon.

This highly artistic antique Persian rug uses refined floral and vine scroll patterns of green, ivory and blue against the brilliant red background. This creates a juxtaposition that allows the individual floral motifs to shine and stand out in all their glory for the whole world to see.

This beautiful antique room size Persian Kerman carpet uses traditional floral design elements to create horizontal symmetry and only a feel of vertical symmetry as well. At first glance, most people feel that this floral carpet is completely symmetrical, but after one spends some time examining it further, they realize that it is only an illusion.

Another interesting play on directionality is the fact that the rug is only somewhat directional. The vast majority of the flowers are growing upwards but not all. If you look closely, you will notice that there are two small vase designs where the flowers are growing in reverse of the rest. In addition, some of the vine scrolls and the floral blossoms that are growing from them are pointing down as well. This approach is very rare to see, especially in the Persian city made rugs where such a strong emphasis is constantly placed on symmetry and consistency.

The focus of the design is on sweeping curvy shapes that are accented by smaller motifs that are contained within the rug design itself. This gives it a sense of informality, yet a sense of structure at the same time. It also provides a splendid sense of artistic balance and only adds to its beautiful design.

The rug artist created balance between the complex formal borders and the main design field. The borders are created from formal design elements, but they are not overstated in such a way that they detract from the central design. This is a beautifully executed piece and would look stunning in any traditional formal home or office setting.
