Though small in size, this lovely antique Khorassan possess a grand monumentality of design, with its powerful scalloped blue central medallion. This strong center of gravity is nicely balanced by the delicate, diminutive corner pieces and the simple border of boteh or paisley forms. The openness of most of the field as well as the limited, restrained palette all combine to allow the medallion to take pride of place within the composition.
