Antique Turkish Rugs -- Antique Oushak / Ushak, Turkey, early 20th century Oblong diamond or hexagon medallions alternate in vertical columns on the warm saffron-ivory ground of this luxurious antique Oushak. The medallions are actually loosely arrayed openwork forms whose linear detail allows the uniform color of the ground to show through everywhere. Much of the frame works the same way, with only the deep aubergine ground of the central border providing a contrast to organize and delimit the delicate patterning of the overall design.
