There is no pattern at all. The whole field is one speckled fleece, dark brown and cream flecked through each other so closely that the surface reads as static rather than as colour. A thin orange line runs the perimeter, and a few small marks in red and blue turn up near the top and again at the foot.
Leaving a Gabbeh entirely blank is a decision, not the absence of one — this is the type where a weaver usually puts animals, diamonds, whatever they like. What is left is texture: the pile is long, the speckle shifts as the light crosses it, and the brown stays warm rather than going grey.
At 2 ft 7 in by 4 ft 6 in it is one of the small rugs, and the one to reach for where a pattern would be one thing too many. Price is available on request, and the same fleece can be woven at any size as a custom rug.
