This exquisite antique embroidered suzani textile from Uzbekistan features a multitude of undulating botanical motifs that are rendered in bold jewel-tone colors.

Grand quatrefoils, charming rosettes and dramatic scrolls with graceful spiraling curves are artfully combined in a high-impact repeating pattern. The exquisite asymmetric composition features a partial rectilinear medallion with coffered borders that are decorated with flourishing scrolls. Rounded medallions featuring arching fretwork Ts, curved ram’s horn quatrefoils and spiraling scrolls create a formal repeating pattern that is bracketed by towering trefoils, which feature rippling curves with flourishing spears. The grand borders showcase a continuation of the elaborate trefoil motifs, which are paired with colorful quatrefoils. Rich ruby-red borders embellished with minute allover patterns frame the boldly colored field complementing the carefully outlined and boldly colored emblems.
