Vibrant Tribal Vintage Persian Geometric Gabbeh Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Vintage
A chain of hooked medallions runs the length of a scarlet field, each one stepped at the edges and holding a small ivory and pale blue diamond at its heart. The ground between them is not left empty: small four-legged animals, birds and comb-like marks are worked into every gap, in ivory, navy and orange.
This is much finer weaving than the bold single-motif pieces the type is known for. Where those work at arm’s length, this one rewards standing over it — the detail keeps resolving. Ivory side borders carry a repeating dark leaf figure, and narrow sawtooth bands separate them from the field. Dense tribal rug drawing throughout.
At 3 ft 8 in by 7 ft 2 in it is long for one of the small rugs, suiting a passage or a run alongside furniture, and the warm tones hold up under strong light. Price is available on request, with commissions taken as a custom rug.
