The diamonds are all different sizes. A broad ivory one sits just above the middle, an orange one nearly as large below it, a navy one at the top, and around them a scattering of smaller ones in teal, orange and near-black — some barely a hand’s width. None of them line up, and the largest is placed slightly off-centre.
Varying the scale like this is what gives the field its depth; the small shapes read as further away, though nothing here is drawn in perspective. The red ground shifts between brick and a deeper wine as it climbs. A heavy frame closes it: ivory sawtooth against navy, then orange, with the teeth pointing inward all the way round.
At 3 ft 7 in by 5 ft 11 in it sits among the 4 x 6 size rugs and is bold enough to be the only pattern in a room. Strong red throughout. Price is available on request, and the scale can be reworked for a bigger floor as a custom rug.
