Cream is the ground here, not the pattern. Coloured squares — orange, rose, slate blue, brick, mauve, brown — are set into an ivory field with plenty of empty cells left between them, so the colour floats rather than tiles. The rows bend as they cross, sagging in the middle and lifting again at the sides.
The border is the only place the weaver kept strict order: a small brown and cream check, evenly alternating, running the full perimeter. It frames a field that never quite settles into a repeat. Loose in the centre, exact at the edge — a piece of tribal rug logic that no drawn cartoon would produce.
At 3 ft 7 in by 5 ft 11 in the pale ground keeps it light in a room; the 4 x 6 size rugs cover this footprint. Price is available on request, and this ivory-led palette can be commissioned larger as a custom rug.
