Antique Persian Tribal Malayer Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa: Turn of the 20th Century – Pulled from the tribal vein of Persia’s charming village carpets, this marvelous antique Persian Malayer rug has a humble, whimsical visage that exhibits rustic pride and a strong sense of style. Distinctive botehs rendered in marvelous berry-red tones parade around the quadripartite composition exuberantly. These inward-facing motifs converge around the soft camel-tone medallion, which displays strong stepped outlines and a complementary assortment of botehs and radiant rosettes. Fine contrasting outlines, lozenge coronets and delicate hairline details give each life-giving seedpod an individual expression. The grand stepped-lozenge medallion and lovely small-scale botehs are juxtaposed against a nocturnal blue background and tribal borders. Saw tooth accents and segmented outer borders that resemble ruby ropes promenade around the edges of the field, complementing the flaming boteh motifs and contrasting the spectacular midnight ground.
