Beautiful Small Antique Tribal Soumak Caucasian Rug 49356, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Caucasian Rug, Circa Date: 1900 – Well balanced and vibrant, this antique Soumak rug makes a bold statement in any space. The eye moves immediately to the three large elements that run vertically along the center of the Caucasian rug, with red squares in the middle of each image. A larger compass-like structure surrounds each box, featuring stylized S-shapes spinning around the center on a medium blue backdrop that, in turn, sits on another bright field of color. These focal points of this beautiful small rug blend harmoniously among smaller images that feature birds, flowers and geometric design shapes, and a mini border of flowers and vines contains it all. A wide accenting border brings in octagonal shapes enclosing abstract flowers and flanked by another row of mini vines and flowers, as well as a gentle line of waves around the perimeter.
