Considerable scale is paired here with remarkably quiet color. This antique Persian Kerman rug stretches its ornament across a softly blue-gray field, yet closely related shades of ivory, sand, faded apricot and muted brown keep the overall effect light. Rather than gathering around a single dominant centerpiece, flowering stems, elongated palmettes and smaller blossoms continue throughout the field as an expansive allover design.
The larger botanical forms establish a loose rhythm through the long composition.
