On careful examination, a vertical line of motifs creates a focal point of trees, grapevines and floral arrangements, subtly anchoring the array of patterns. The flowers, leaves, vines and medallions, in this magnificent antique Persian Tabriz rug, travel from these central points, pushing diagonally to the corner of the frame and creating triangles and diamonds, making visual order from what initially appears random. A single row of rug design patterns runs along the top of this frame as an asymmetrical accent before reaching a triple border for containment. Contrasting the multi-directional motif in the middle of this antique Persian rug, an outside border features orderly geometric and floral patterns all marching in a row and repeats the three accent lines as a finishing touch.
