Nothing here has a corner. Sage and slate rounded columns stand against coral discs, and a second layer of pale ivory ribbons sweeps across all of it — wide arcs at the top, a set of thin concentric curves at the lower left. Where the ivory passes over a coloured shape it lightens rather than hides it.
That translucency is the point, and it is a difficult thing to knot. The pale bands are woven at a lower contrast so the shape beneath still reads, and the sheen of the wool and silk weave lifts them just enough to sit in front. Softest of the Atelier group, and the furthest a geometric rug gets from a straight line.
At 6 ft by 9 ft on a warm apricot ground, it suits a bedroom or a room where the palette should stay quiet; the 6 x 9 size rugs give the footprint. Price is available on request, and the Atelier can weave it larger as a custom rug.
