Moroccan Rug, Morocco, Mid 20th Century – Hair bands, amulets and decorative lozenges linked by filamentous lines decorate the strong stacked lozenge medallion and clear ivory field. Ladder-like finger motifs and running water figures incorporating zigzagging patterns embellish the edges of the field along with secondary columns of small-scale lozenges and amulets lined with alternating colors. The central stacked medallion that incorporates irregular lozenge motifs and symbols is flanked by bicolor lines that create a secondary lozenge pattern around the central column. This vintage Moroccan rug created in the mid-20th century features a beautiful variety of ancient symbolic figures rendered in a modern combination of fulvous brown, Kohl black and flaxen yellow paired with bold cyan accents.
