East Turkestan Khotan Rugs — Horizontal Vase Pattern Gold Antique Oriental Khotan Carpet, circa date: 1900 – Initially this exquisite antique Khotan seems have a pattern of vases, boxes, and flowers reminiscent of the ‘hundred antiques’ design on classic Chinese Ningshia carpets. But a closer look reveals that the vases all sprout stylized vines of classic antique oriental Khotan carpet rendered subtly in barely contrasting shade of tan. This subtle tonality continues in the vine scroll border. Despite the elaboration of the design, the overall tone-on-tone effect prevails making this a first-rate decorative antique Oriental rug.
