A Vibrant Artistic Vintage Swedish Tapestry Dated 1957 And Signed “BS” (Barbro Sprinchorn), Country of origin: Scandinavia, Circa date: 1957 – Like a few of our other magnificently artistic vintage mid century modern Barbro Sprinchorn tapestries and rugs, this too is signed by the creator’s initials. The artist was active from the forties through the seventies. This particular artistic tapestry was woven in Scandinavia and created by Barbro Sprinchorn in the late 50’s, right at the height of the Pop Art movement. You can see the influence of pop art colors and deviation from realistic forms in this tapestry.
This artistic vintage piece represents a fishing village with boats in the central ground and fishing lines, fishing equipment, and homes around the outer edges. Looking carefully at the black lines that only mildly delineate forms, you can see boats, sails, and docks.
