Antique East Turkestan Khotan Rug, Country of Origin: East Turkestan, Circa Date:1920 – A pale orange hue dominates this antique rug from East Turkestan, its haziness offset with shades of blue, white, creamy yellow and a darker orange. Three dark blue medallions filled geometrically designed flowers like eight-pointed stars align along the center, and smaller blue baubles peek in over the edges. This orange-backed area is bounded by a lovely, ornate trim rendered in contrasting tones with nested and repeating decorations. A light blue border follows, alternating simple and haloed orange flowers, complementing the hue wonderfully. The final border described over the piece is pale with dark orange-brown stitching that creates an angular design.
