Charming Geometric-Pattern Vintage Persian Gabbeh Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Vintage
Three narrow ivory diamonds meet point to point down the middle, making a single unbroken spine. To either side, eight-pointed dark brown stars are placed in matching pairs — left mirrors right, row for row. Four tiny figures in orange, green and blue are the only saturated colour anywhere on the rug.
Everything else is the fleece as it came: grey, taupe and soft brown drifting in wide horizontal bands with no dye involved. That restraint is unusual, and so is the symmetry — most weaving of this kind is placed by eye and comes out uneven. Here the pairs line up. A neutral piece that was clearly planned before it was begun.
At 2 ft 9 in by 4 ft 6 in it sits at the compact end of the small rugs, and the earth tones will sit quietly almost anywhere. Price is available on request, and the design can be enlarged as a custom rug.
