Beautiful Vintage Persian Gabbeh Diamond-Pattern Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Vintage
Four diamonds sit on a red field, but they are not four separate shapes — the ivory stepped outline never stops. It runs down from the top, turns back on itself at each waist and carries on, so what looks like a stack of medallions is one continuous zigzag drawn in a single line. Each widening holds an orange cross ringed in navy.
Reading it as a chain rather than a column changes the movement: nothing sits still, and the eye is pushed from one end to the other instead of stopping at a centre. The frame is layered — ivory, olive, then a barber-pole stripe spiralling round the outer edge in orange and dark brown.
At 4 ft by 5 ft 11 in it sits squarely in the 4 x 6 size rugs, with warm tones throughout — confident tribal rug drawing. Price is available on request, and the chain can be lengthened to fit a room as a custom rug.
