The pomegranate design Khotan antique rug is well-balanced, with the stylized lines of the vines and branches contrasting with the circular fruit. The bright red fruit on the rich field gives an illusion of depth. The allover design includes finely executed flowers and leaves drooping from the ends of the branches. The wide border continues the floral theme, with widely spaced flowers on a red background contrasting with the blue field on the inner border. Simple red and gold bands outlined in gradations of black separate the border sections.
