An Intricately Rendered Beautiful and Finely Woven Antique Persian Floral Design Textile, Country / Origin: Persia, Circa / Weave Date: 1920 – A structured pattern of orange and red flowers with light-hued leaves fills the black central area of this antique Persian textile. Five-petaled flowers with radial symmetry nestle against jagged leaves, and ferny fronds in yellow or red rest alongside. The fiery shades of this antique textile are balanced by the dark background, which peeps through between the blossoms and forms valleys within the pattern. A set of alternating bands surrounds the main field, each band alternating between carmine and creamy white. The same floral elements make up the design of the red borders but rendered in white, as if crafted from negative space. Thin lines of pale blue and red form a row of simple flowers through the central pair of white borders, limned like fine porcelain.

The overall composition of this antique Persian weaving is reminiscent of the designs that we usually see in the captivating Persian Kerman rugs as well as the more European approach to the floral elements that we tend to see in Persian Bidjar rugs that are referred to as golfarang design rugs. This refined Iranian textile is luminous example that is extremely well executed with so much attention paid to even the smallest of details and is an impressively artistic example.

There are may ways one can incorporate this artistic Antique Persian Floral Textile into their interior design. While it is a textile, some people will opt to use it as a kilim type area rug and a decorative piece on the floor. That said, this antique Persian textile is quite light in weight. That means that it could easily be prepped and adapted to be used as a wonderful floral wall hanging tapestry rug as well.
