Antique Eberhart Herrmann Karachopf Kazak Rug 49139, Country of Origin: Caucasian Rugs, Circa Date: 1800 –  The light-colored central medallion, framed by a dark green background, contains symbolic motifs that exemplify the weaving traditions of the Kazak region, yet reflect the individual style of the weaver. Smaller motifs contained within the larger figures set the theme. Ram’s horns, latch-hooks, geometric flowers and guls are contained in squares and rectangles. The three major shades, dark green for the background, terracotta and tan, are accentuated by contrasting black and off-white. The running border in this antique rug uses a repeating geometric motif of alternating light and dark figures on a tan background. The two narrow guards feature a stylized running motif typical in classic Caucasian Karachopf Kazak rugs.
