Abstract Geometric Vintage Persian Gabbeh Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Vintage
Crimson fills the top third. Below it a run of horizontal bands — gold, orange, deep indigo — drops into a broad ivory ground flecked with short red and navy dashes. The lower half then breaks apart into a patchwork of blocks in navy, red, orange and olive, each a slightly different size and none of them quite square.
Nothing here is measured, and that is the point. The composition lands close to a modern painting but arrives from the opposite direction: tribal rug weaving improvising block by block and correcting as it goes. The pile is deep and shaggy, softening every edge it draws.
At 3 ft 9 in by 4 ft 2 in the rug is small and close to square — suited to a landing, a child’s room, or a wall where the colour carries on its own. The rug size guide covers placement at this scale. Price upon request.
