Oushak Rug, Turkey, Circa 1900 - On this charming little antique Oushak, a pattern of stylized vines with flowers and palmettes unfolds across a deep persimmon ground whose hexagonal form is defined by undulating cornerpieces at both ends. A richly detailed border of rosettes and parallel vines set against a celadon green ground encloses the field. The controlled linearity of the border creates a beautiful counterpoint with the pulsating dynamism of the field.
