Antique Khorassan, Persia, circa 1900 - An allover design of star-like floral medallions in salmon, sea green, and navy blue repeats in a staggered arrangement across an ivory field on this lavish antique Khorassan. Although the pattern essentially repeats the same elements, the changes in color make thedesign seem dynamic and varied. Multiple minor borders enclose a main border of cartouches. The coloration of the border system echoes that of the field, while the smaller scale and density of its design  provides a suitable framing contrast.
