Antique Persian Malayer Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1920– This antique Persian rug features an elaborate pattern that shifts through gray and brown across the long height. With several repetitions across the width, the design showcases interlocking, geometric rug design forms built around four-quartered intersections, seemingly coalescing out of the negative space created by the dark stitches. A very slim band of light and dark separated by a zigzag demarcation encloses the repeating pattern. An eye catching, wider border rests against this, decorated with dark brown stitches that create stacked, four-sided tribal flowers braced with strongly angular flowers on the antique Persian Malayer rug. Another thin border with a zigzag pattern that matches the first finishes the antique rug.
