Vintage Moroccan rugs and carpets featuring this signature composition consisting of a beautiful ivory field and dark brown detail lines that are present in this splendid example are considered especially desirable. Latticework details and dividing checkerboard motifs rendered in a combination of Kohl black and walnut brown create an abstract allover pattern set over a chic papyrus-colored field. Often incorporating mutable elements, this Moroccan carpet utilizes formal latticework cells, honeycomb variants and trapezoidal shapes. Geometric glyphs and symbolic motifs decorate the latticework cells creating a series of secondary stripes while checkerboard bands and linear latticework motifs form a graphic allover pattern that highlights the luxurious texture of the papyrus-colored field.
