Vintage Moroccan Beni Ourain Carpet, Origin: Morocco, Circa: Mid-20th Century – Here is a beautifully composed vintage carpet from Morocco, woven in the height of the Beni Ourain style during the mid-twentieth century. Beautifully representative of a tremendously popular style of vintage rugs, this charming carpet is characterized by a broad ivory field, against which small and eccentric tribal detail elements have been set, rendered in the dark brown that is also representative of the Beni Ourain style. Closer inspection reveals that the tribal detail elements are small x’s or crosses, obscured partially by the luxurious pile of the ivory field. Inherently tremendously versatile, mid-century Moroccan carpets such as this fetching example beautifully complement a wide range of interior rooms and spaces – and are especially well suited to mid-century modern spaces. A beautifully woven carpet featuring a straightforward, traditional composition, this Beni Ourain rug is a charming example.
