Vibrant Modern Abstract Geometric Nazmiyal Atelier Silk and Wool Rug, Country of Origin: Central Asia, Circa Date: Modern
A slate-blue half-disc sits at the top left, its flat edge facing a teal square. Below them a red-orange bar runs straight across the width, cutting a teal column and stopping short of the right edge. Two yellow discs anchor the lower half, one small, one large with a black bar laid over its edge. The sand ground holds them apart.
The shapes are hard-edged and separated, and the space between them does as much work as the colour. Silk in the pile gives each flat field its own sheen, so the teal and the blue shift at different rates as you cross the room — an effect this wool and silk construction produces and a flat weave cannot. The drawing is strict geometric rug work.
At 6 ft by 9 ft it suits a seating area or a dining table; the 6 x 9 size rugs show the scale. Price is available on request, and the Atelier can weave this composition to your dimensions as a custom rug.
