Vintage Turkish Kilim Rug, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: 20th Century — An elegant rug, it displays four large central diamond-shaped ornate medallions formed from the surrounding motif of smaller diamonds, set against a richly textured field of dark navy blue. The multi-colored border contains blue, rust, orange, and white patterns, surrounded on either side by guard borders of alternating white and red geometric designs. The spandrels in the corners unite horizontally to form two solid enclosed rectangles on both ends, each displaying an intricate repeating pattern of orange, white and red diamond-shaped medallions. Turkish tribal kilim rugs in the past provided excellent tapestries, due to their lighter weight and flat weave.
