Antique Karabagh Rug, Origin: Caucasus, Circa 1920 — True to many other Caucasian pieces, this painstakingly rendered antique Caucasian Karabagh rug focuses on creating a sense of realism in the flowery forms within. A single border surrounds the piece, where a soft, azure background allows the tiny flowers at the forefront to pop to attention in an even more pronounced way. At the center of the rug is a collection of brightly colored roses, surrounded by softly flowing leaves. Midnight black sets a night-like backdrop at the carpet’s core, making the brighter colors of the petals and leaves stand out all the more.
