Antique Persian Bidjar Runner Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1920– This long antique rug from Persia features a lengthy, dark blue banner holding a symmetrical design in red, green, white and yellow. Highly stylized trees topped with curving boughs are surrounded by leafy flowers and small symbols of animals. This motif repeats down the body of the antique rug, each iteration changing in color and detail. A set of three borders in blue, white and green, bounded by a dark antique gold, surrounds the central rectangular field. Each bar contains a matching pattern of artistically looping vines that wind around small orange blossoms. Two leaves spring from the top of every bright flower.
