Antique Bidjar Carpet, Origin: Persia, Circa 1900 — The deep, earthy background of this beautifully crafted carpet is the first thing that springs to attention. Surrounding this field is a series of dark, elegant borders that create several unique points of motion. As the viewer’s eyes move past the borders and backdrop, they are greeted by twin columns of diamond shapes, themselves containing a microcosm of flowers and forms, each distinct, yet somehow unified in their presence within the larger shapes. Around the diamonds, in the negative space of the rich, brown background are several depictions of camels, humans, fox heads and various other individual pieces that add personality and comfort to the antique Persian Bidjar carpet’s appearance.
