Stunning Antique Persian Heriz Allover Pattern Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1900
The ground is a strong steel blue, and it shifts pass to pass rather than sitting flat. Across it run large octagonal palmettes, their edges drawn as feathered ivory and tan spikes, each closing on a coral centre. Pine green and brick leaves sit above and below them, and small ivory flowers fill the gaps.
Every curve here is cut into straight lines — the geometric habit that identifies Heriz weaving, and the reason the drawing reads clearly from a distance. There is no medallion: the pattern is allover and mirrored, so the eye finds the centre line rather than a centre. The brick red border answers it with the same angular vine.
At 9 ft 4 in by 10 ft 9 in it is close to square, and among the room size rugs it suits a space where no direction should lead. Price is available on request, and the pattern can be redrawn at other dimensions as a custom rug.
