The robust walnut-tone field is nearly obscured by the tightly spaced, richly detailed motifs, which seamlessly fit together to create an unending repeating pattern on this striking Persian rug. Dark walnut browns, soft papyrus accents and sandy mid-tones emphasize the detail-rich motifs and hairline accents that give the understated earth-tone designs a strong, highly decorative presence. Impressively detailed botanical decorations are tempered by the handsome earth-tone colors. The lavish tone-on-tone palette and superfluous details continue through the majestic turtle-and-vine-scroll borders and heavily patterned strapwork guard bands. Reciprocating turtle motifs flanked by pendulous Herati leaves and small-scale rosettes fill the superb main borders, which use the same versatile and elegant earth-tones.
