Antique Mohtashem Kashan Persian Runner Rug, Persia, late 19th Century – A delicate spray of small flowers, leaves, and shrubs sprawls across the abrashed blue to green field of this lush little antique Mohtashem Kashan. The main border is a simple series of floral rosettes and tiny buds highlighted by two reciprocal trefoil guard stripes. The effect of the rug depends largely on the delicate linearity of the forms and the juxtaposition of soft shades of green, yellow, and apricot.
