Beautiful Antique French Aubusson Rug, Country of Origin: France, Circa Date: Turn of the 20th Century around 1900 — True to many other antique French rugs, this one creates defining lines of movement through the use of crisp colors and exquisite forms. An ocher border surrounds the work and allows the eye to transition into the other frames within. An uneven form, breaking from the traditional rectangular pattern of rugs, establishes an incredible degree of flow that highlights the negative space between the missing sections of the rectangle. Within the core of the rug is a wheel that gracefully unifies the rest of the lush landscape of color within, leading the viewer’s attention to the ribbons of flowers arching throughout.
