Antique Persian Sarouk Farahan Rug, Persia, Circa 1900 – Woven in the 1900s, this remarkable antique rug from Farahan features a tremendous allover pattern comprised of many tiny floral motifs enhanced with contrasting outlines, polychromatic accents and exceptional details. The complex allover pattern features a series of interlocking rosettes joined by a central thread. Each kaleidoscopic rosette is decorated with an elegant combination of colors and delicate floral patterns that complement and contrast the surrounding elements. Narrow guardbands and contrasting ivory borders decorated with polychromatic Herati leaves joined by arthropodan palmettes offset the richly color field. Woven in the 1900s, this spectacular antique Farahan rug features clear colors and broad patterns comprised of secondary elements that are rendered with a stunning level of detail.
