Antique Persian Bakshaish Carpet, Persia, Late 19th Century – This absolutely stunning and impressively made antique Oriental rug — an antique Persian Bakshaish rug that was originally hand made by the master rug makers of old Persia sometime during the latter years of the nineteenth century — is a truly phenomenal and very exciting work: it is an antique rug that is not only as beautiful to behold today as it was upon its original composition so long ago, but also a piece that embodies many of those characteristics and qualities that are most desired and sought after by experts and collectors of antique Persian rugs all over the world. This dramatic Persian Bakshaish carpet exhibits an archaic center motif almost zoo-morphic in design. The ivory field contains stylized vines with unusual spandrels containing c-motifs. The archaic execution in the designs confirms the 19th century date and makes this a rare find.
