Very large and rare Antique Persian Qashqai Rug, Country of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: Late 19th Century – Inspired by the great classical garden carpets of Northwest Persia, this stunning antique Qashqhai has a highly controlled allover repeat design of stylized trees of life and weeping willows interspersed with flowering vines of varying configuration, all set against a clear ivory field. Triangular navy corner-pieces filled with ‘millefleurs’ details give the field a hexagonal shape, while various vine-scroll borders with a dominant terracotta coloration combine to give the carpet an outer frame. The color sensibility of this antique rug is extraordinary, in every way the equal of the classic Persian masterpieces from which it is descended.
