Moroccan rug, Morocco, Mid 20th Century – Poly chromatic outlines, opposing colors and geometric protection symbols are combined in this distinguished rug produced in Morocco. The plum-colored field showcases a gradient abrash that transitions from Byzantium purple to lavender and burgundy red. Inset lozenges decorated with pendulous embellishments form a central column that traverses the exquisitely colored field. Intricately checkered quadrants, pillars of stacked lozenges and symbolic devices are offset from the bold background using a lively series of poly chromatic outlines that incorporate alternating combinations of orange, creamy white and royal blue. Flat-woven ends embellished with monochromatic stripes and opposing colors contrast the lively multi colored motifs featured within the field.
