Antique Serab Runner from Northwest Persia, circa 1900 – Spareness is sometimes the essence of imagination as we can see in this striking antique Serab runner. The field is essentially open in deep natural camel, embellished by three rectangular boxes with simple medallions, along with several male and female figures. The boxes with medallions are repeated serially in the main or outer border, while the inner one has a classic Northwest Persian vine scroll. A veritable masterpiece of Persian village weaving.
