Vintage Moroccan Rug, Origin: Morocco, Circa: Mid 20th Century – Created in Morocco around the 1940’s, this expressive vintage Moroccan rug features graphic geometric patterns which are decorated with auspicious symbols that are rendered in a bold combination of cerise, vermillion and walnut brown set over an oatmeal-colored field. Abstract glyphs and checkered lozenges that were incorporated as a way to protect it owners against the evil eye are set against a background of mod checkers and abstract rectilinear motifs. Rendered in a modern selection of exotic colors, this vibrant vintage rug from Morocco depicts a brilliant variety of colorful checkers and vibrant color blocks embellished with symbolic motifs. Slanting checkerboard emblems, which are incorporated in colorful squares, checkered lozenges and symbolic glyphs, embellish the upper edges of the field gradually transitioning to a series of large-scale color blocks and abstractions on a central theme. Truly a great example of folk art rugs from Morocco.
