Bidjar is located in the Northwestern corner of Persia in an area that is populated by the Kurdish people. At the turn of the 20th century, it was home to a thriving population of about 20,000 and was known as a center of the carpet industry. The antique Persian area rugs from Bidjar are made with fine craftsmanship and superior wool. Many of the large size carpets were custom made rugs for Persian nobility and Western aristocrats.
