Antique Room Size Khotan Rug, Country of Origin: East Turkestan, Circa Date: Early 20th Century – Created in Khotan, East Turkestan, this elegant antique rug features a stunning repeating pattern incorporating a chic combination of muted walnut brown paired with ocher and ivory. Sectional qua trefoils, spiraling cloud-bands and angular lozenges are carefully arranged in an intricate allover pattern. Branching tulip motifs flank both ends of the carefully composed field seamlessly fitting into the recessed niches created by the angular cloud-bands, which feature barbed extensions and re-curved tails. Multiple sets of guard-bands and subdued walnut brown borders decorated with an angular variant of the popular turtle and vine-scroll motif create a fitting frame for the sophisticated earth-tone field.
