Modern Classic Style Silk Floral Allover Pattern Rug, Country of Origin: Central Asia, Circa Date: Modern
Small blossom clusters cover the field edge to edge in pale gold against a warmer caramel ground. There is no border and no centre — the scatter simply runs to all four sides. Held at arm’s length the pattern dissolves into texture; step closer and the individual flower heads resolve, each one soft-edged rather than drawn.
Working the pattern only a shade or two from the ground is what makes it read this way. The silk does the separating instead of colour: the blossoms catch light where the ground absorbs it, so the design surfaces and recedes as you move. It is a restrained take on the floral rug tradition, closer to texture than to decoration.
At 9 ft 9 in by 13 ft 10 in it covers a full reception room or a large dining setting; the 10 x 14 size rugs show the range. Price is available on request, and the pattern can be woven to other dimensions as a custom rug.
